1. Overview & Core Philosophy (Zero-Trust Privacy)

TekSavi ("we", "our", or "us") developed Agent Scan as an offline-first, zero-trust utility for scanning, generating, and inspecting QR codes and barcodes.

Our Guiding Principle

Your scans belong to you. We do not track your identity, we do not require user accounts or logins, and we never sell, monetize, or harvest personal data.

  • lockZero-Trust Inspection: Scanned payloads are parsed and verified locally to prevent malicious execution before presenting actions to you.

2. Device Permissions & On-Device Processing

Agent Scan requests the minimum set of device permissions necessary to function:

  • • Purpose: The camera is accessed strictly when you open the active viewfinder to detect and decode QR codes and barcodes.
  • • On-Device Computer Vision: All barcode scanning, frame analysis, and image interpretation occur 100% locally on your device using Google ML Kit and native hardware vision engines.
  • • No Video Recording or Image Uploads: Live camera frames are processed in volatile memory (RAM) and immediately discarded. The app never records video, captures background photos, or uploads your camera feed to any external server.
  • • No Background Access: The camera stream is paused and shut down the moment you exit or background the scanning screen.

When you choose to decode a barcode from an existing photo, Agent Scan invokes the native Android Photo Picker or iOS PHPickerViewController.

• Zero Storage Permission Required: The app does not request or require broad read/write access to your media storage or personal files.

3. iOS & Apple App Store Guidelines Compliance (5.1.1, 5.1.2 & 3.1.2)

When running on Apple iOS and iPadOS, Agent Scan strictly conforms to Apple's stringent privacy guidelines and platform security frameworks:

In compliance with Apple Guideline 5.1.2, Agent Scan requests tracking permission via Apple's native AppTrackingTransparency (ATT) framework (NSUserTrackingUsageDescription) before accessing the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA).

If you tap "Ask App not to Track", the IDFA is completely zeroed out by iOS (00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000). We never use device fingerprinting, statistical heuristics, or non-approved signals to bypass your tracking choice.

Our App Store Privacy Nutrition Labels accurately reflect our data architecture:

  • Data Not Linked to You:Crash Diagnostics & Basic Interaction Analytics (via Firebase) to maintain app stability.
  • Data Used to Track You (Optional / Consent-Only): Third-Party Advertising Identifiers used solely if you explicitly grant ATT consent.
  • Camera & Scan Data: 100% on-device volatile RAM execution — NOT collected, NOT linked, and NOT transmitted.

shopping_bagC. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions (Apple StoreKit)

All premium purchases, ad-free upgrades, or subscriptions are processed securely by Apple through StoreKit.

TekSavi never receives or stores your credit card numbers, billing addresses, or Apple ID account credentials. Subscriptions can be managed or cancelled anytime in your iOS Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.

4. Product Intelligence, Proxy Servers & Open Food Facts Attribution

Agent Scan features an optional Smart Product Intelligence engine that retrieves product names, brands, packaging details, and nutritional information when retail barcodes (EAN-13, UPC-A) are scanned.

datasetA. Open Food Facts Attribution & Open Database License (ODbL)

  • • Agent Scan utilizes public dietary, ingredient, and retail data derived from the Open Food Facts crowdsourced project (https://world.openfoodfacts.org/).
  • • The Open Food Facts database is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL v1.0) by the Open Data Commons (https://opendatacommons.org/licenses/odbl/1-0/).
  • • Individual product images, texts, and packaging artwork provided by contributors are made available under the Database Contents License (DbCL) and Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA 3.0 / 4.0).
  • • Any public database enhancements or derivative database extracts contributed back comply with the Share-Alike terms of the ODbL.

lanB. TekSavi Proxy & Caching Architecture

To protect user privacy, minimize mobile data consumption, and maximize scan response times, product queries may route through TekSavi's high-speed caching edge servers (api.halalcam.live / TekSavi Product Gateway) before falling back to Open Food Facts endpoints.

Zero User Profiling: When a product barcode (e.g., 7622210449283) is looked up:

  • Only the raw numerical barcode string is transmitted over encrypted TLS 1.3.
  • No user identifier, advertisement ID, device fingerprint, or personal information is attached to the request.
  • Server access logs are stripped of IP addresses and purged automatically to prevent traffic correlation.

• Opt-Out Control: You can disable Smart Product Intelligence entirely at any time in Settings > Smart Product Intelligence, which prevents all external product catalog network queries.

5. Local Offline Storage & Scan History

  • storageSQLite Offline Database: Your scan history, custom QR studio presets, favorites, and security inspection logs are stored strictly on your physical device in a private sandbox directory.
  • cloud_offNo Cloud Sync Required: We do not maintain a remote database of your personal scan history.
  • delete_foreverFull Data Deletion: You can delete individual scans or wipe the entire history at any time using the "Clear History" button in the app. Uninstalling the app permanently purges all local data from your device.

6. Advertising & Monetization (Google AdMob & Mediation Partners)

Agent Scan is supported by advertising to remain free for all users. We implement industry-leading privacy standards, Google Consent Management (UMP), and contextual ad optimizations:

  • • We utilize Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) to serve banner, interstitial, rewarded, app open, and native ads.
  • • GDPR & EEA Consent (Google UMP): For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, and Switzerland, Agent Scan presents Google's certified User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent dialog before loading personalized advertisements. Users can choose personalized ads, non-personalized ads, or modify their consent preferences anytime in Settings > Privacy Choices.
  • • Zero-Spam & Rewarded Access: Users can earn ad-free or premium scan access periods (e.g., 10 minutes) by voluntarily choosing to view Rewarded Ads.

To maximize ad availability and revenue, Google AdMob mediates ad requests to certified third-party ad networks. These ad partners may process pseudonymous device identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID / IDFA) according to their respective privacy policies:

7. Analytics & Diagnostics (Google Firebase)

To ensure application stability, diagnose crashes across thousands of device models, and monitor basic application health, Agent Scan integrates Google Firebase SDKs:

8. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)

Agent Scan is a general utility tool and is not directed toward children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will take steps to remove such information.

10. Third-Party Links & External Destinations

When scanning a QR code containing an external URL, Agent Scan's Zero-Trust Security Engine previews the unmasked destination, highlights URL redirects, and assesses threat levels before you proceed.

Once you tap to open an external link in your web browser, that external website is governed by its own independent privacy policy.

11. Data Deletion, Policy Changes & Contact Us

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new app features, regulatory updates, or store policy adjustments. Any changes will be posted with an updated date.
